From her home in the Forest of Dean Rosemary Castle runs a small mail order nursery specialising in unusual forms and varieties of the more common British
wildflowers and native plants such as nettles, buttercups and clovers.
Many of these plants remain important food or nectar plants for
butterflies, moths, bees and other invertebrates, while having
ornamental qualities such as variegated or coloured foliage or unusual
flower colour.
Rosemary believes that gardeners should be encouraged to grow more native
plants as a means of boosting biodiversity and that they can create
more interesting and imaginative wildlife-friendly gardens by growing
some of the less familiar forms of these plants that are maintained in
cultivation.
The nursery and plant list is included in the
Royal Horticultural Society's 2007/8 directory of plants and nurseries,
The RHS Plant Finder and in their database.
