Grant for South London wildlife garden

A local allotment and leisure group in London have been awarded a substantial sum of money to construct a wildlife garden and educational facility.

The award of £5,000 was given to Roundshaw Allotment and Leisure Group by 'Awards for All' to construct a wildlife garden and educational project on the Roundshaw Allotments site in Sutton, South London. The group has been working with the Sutton Parks Department and teams from the Merton Community Services and to improve the allotments site as part of the national Allotments Regeneration Initiative. Gwen Gentry, Secretary to the Group, said 'We are proud to be thought worthy of such an award and aim to work with local schools and youth groups, initially Amy Johnson Primary School, to promote an interest in wildlife among young people and to encourage a healthy lifestyle in the local community.
