A survey in 2004 revealed that the song thrush, and other garden birds, had a good year.

 Details
Ringing studies undertaken by the BTO detected a 57% increase in the numbers of young song thrushes (Turdus philomelos), a 'red listed' species which has undergone a dramatic decline over the last few decades. Other garden birds that did well were dunnocks (Prunella modularis), blackbirds (Turdus merula), great tits (Parus major) and blue tits (Parus caeruleus). The wet summer (which makes the earthworms easier to come by) and more sensitive farming practices have been suggested as reasons for the thrushes' increase.
