Lots of us feed garden birds believing that we are helping them in their quest for survival. But how many of us stop to consider that done incorrectly, feeding could actually do more harm than good?

 Details
If we do not pay proper attention to hygiene at our bird feeders and feeding stations, we could, unwittingly, be promoting diseases like salmonellosis, colibacillosis and those that lead to growths on the legs and feet. Fortunately avoiding such problems is mostly a matter of common sense and building hygiene into our feeding routines.

A new comprehensive leaflet published by the BTO, Garden Birds Hygiene & Disease will tell you just about all you need to know in order to ensure that your garden birds remain healthy while you keep them well fed. You can obtain a free copy of the leaflet by writing to GBW Hygiene Leaflet, BTO, The Nunnery, Thetford, Norfolk, IP24 2PU, or by phoning 01842 750050 or by emailing gbw@bto.org.
