A couple from Buchan in Scotland have been recognized for the work they have done to transform the grounds of their croft into a haven for wildlife.

 Details
Robert and Elizabeth Stephen moved into their croft with 1.5 acres of land 25 years ago. Since then they have added more land to reach 45 acres. (Okay, it is a bit bigger than your average suburban garden.) The land includes two ponds, areas of woodland and shrubs specially planted for the winter food they provide. The couple's work has been recognised by a 2003 Green Butterfly award presented by Aberdeenshire Environmental Forum.
