Devon Gardens in Gorey, Jersey have gone the extra mile to protect a colony of wall lizards after the garden was devastated by flooding.

 Details
The gardens were forced to close at the end of 2001 when severe rain caused a landslide. There was concern that the work required to repair the area would disrupt the lizard colony, so dry-stone walls were built to protect and shelter them during the work. New plants will be chosen both for their aesthetic qualities and for their ability to enhance the lizard's habitat. Planting takes place this autumn.
