The BBC has launched a new UK wildlife campaign

The new campaign coincides with a new programme, Britain Goes Wild With Bill Oddie, consisting of three weeks of live broadcasts from all over the UK hosted by Bill Oddie, Kate Humble and Simon King.

The programme is not confined to garden wildlife but is looking at some of the 'iconic' species of British wildlife from all sorts of habitats. The campaign however aims to encourage people to commit themselves to helping wildlife in their own gardens. Entitled Make Space For Nature (sound familiar?), viewers are asked to visit the BBC website at http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature and make a pledge to help wildlife. Stephen Moss of BBC Natural History Unit said "Wildlife in gardens and in accessible places is something that enhances our whole quality of life in exactly the same way that football does, or enjoying music".
